Our Engagement

The story of how we became engaged...

It was late morning Saturday, September 1, 2007. I had picked up the ring on Friday while we were on a date in Fort Wayne and only needed to ask for permission. Yes, I carried it in my pocket the whole night and she never even noticed. Lucky me! I had originally intended to ask both of Jenna's parents for permission, but after asking her dad, I wasn't about to make her mom that emotional. When questioned why I "snuck" upstairs, I simply replied, "I was talking with your dad about transferring my parents VHS recordings to DVD." I was wanting to "pop the question" before we hung out with "the others," but I had to wait until afterwards.

We ended up leaving Bud and Misty's house just a little before midnight. Her mother had sent her a text message earlier wanting us to check on the fire when we got home. So, when we got back to her house we headed out to the fire to make sure nothing had burned down. Once we were out there, I started asking her about her dream proposal and if there was anything in specific she wanted to happen. No luck! The only detail she gave me was that I needed to get down on one knee and actually have the ring. So, I went over and grabbed a chair sitting nearby and made her sit down. I told her I was going to ask her five (5) questions and the answers would all hopefully be the same. First, I asked, "You know I love you, right?" She said, "Yes." Next, I asked, "You know you mean everything to me, right?" She said, "Yes." Then, she asked, "What?" because she noticed the look on my face. So, I told her there was one thing that had to happen before I could be truly happy and completely satisfied. Finally, I asked the magic question as I gave the ring, "Miss Jenna Lee Henthorn, will you marry me?" Obviously, she said, "YES!!!" So, I took the ring and put it on her finger. Now, we're living happily ever after!

Future Children

Due to all the recent baby news, Jenna and I decided to release the names we have chosen for our kids. We are doing this in hopes of preventing "duplicate" names amongst our family and friends. These are the names we have chosen and will use regardless of those who "had a kid with that name first." We are not "copy-cats" or "stealers" of any kind. So, there may be someone with our names first, but let it be known, we chose these names first!

Boys:   Landon Paul, Carter Allen
